About Lovell Designs...

In 2004, Alison Lovell scaled back her work in the art world to start Lovell Designs, the privately owned and operated Canadian accessories company. "My influence comes from art," she says, "my designs are a search for balance between colour and form."

Swiss-born to Canadian parents, Lovell oversees every detail of her unique product line from her studio in downtown Toronto where she now lives with her young family. "Growing up in Switzerland gave me an appreciation for precision and function," she says. Her work carries the hallmarks of the country. All products are made from 100% cotton canvas fabric that is designed and printed exclusively for Lovell Designs.

Colour, form and function are the defining elements of Lovell Designs. After starting with handbags, the line has now diversified into home decor and children's accessories, but each piece is still designed with the clean shapes, natural proportions and vibrant colour that earned the company its reputation. "Taking an everyday household item that has a purpose, like a storage bin or a hamper, and transforming it into a decorative piece that stands on its own," are the dual functions that motivate Lovell's work. "And there is nothing better than seeing a perfect stranger carrying one of my bags."
